Behind every more capable model is a growing physical infrastructure: massive data centers, advanced chips, cooling systems, high-speed networks and, above all, enormous amounts of electricity.We are essentially building a new layer of digital infrastructure for an increasingly intelligent economy.There is also an interesting irony here. AI is being developed to make systems more efficient, but building the infrastructure required to run increasingly powerful AI systems creates enormous new demands of its own.The future of AI will therefore be shaped not only inside laboratories, but also in power plants, semiconductor facilities, data centers and the networks connecting them. That side of the AI story is just getting started.
